This session provides recent industry-specific research and up-to-date information on the region’s economic standing. Nick will provide a forecast of what the Texas and Southwest regional commercial and residential glass and metal industries can expect and what to anticipate as a result of market shifts. Understand what these shifts can mean for current and future business moves.
Faculty: Nick St. Denis is the director of research for Key Media & Research (KMR).
As the number and volatility of threats to facility security and safety continue to escalate, protection is becoming paramount in the scope of today’s facility design. Whether it’s high-level protection from ballistics, blast, storm impact or forced entry, this course reviews the various protection levels, testing standards, best practices and the fundamental fenestration solutions which will fortify your building to protect people and property. Following this course, attendees will be able to identify key fenestration design criteria which will fortify buildings from
ballistic, blast, forced entry and environmental threats.
Faculty: Wade Arnold is the director of commercial sales for Specialty Fenestration Group, encompassing U.S. Bullet Proofing & Quikserv.
Proper Connections of glazing systems to the building are critical for the whole system to function in the way that it should. Contract drawings are often vague in the areas where glazing systems are needing be supported. Learn about the best practices to minimize connection requirements and what to do with those ugly details sometimes encountered in the contract drawings.
Faculty: Stewart Jeske, P.E., is the founder and president of JEI Structural Engineering
Even the most detailed shop drawings can come back to hurt glazing contractors,if they don’t understand the liability they carry. This seminar explains the steps involved in developing drawings and the areas of exposure and liability contract glaziers must protect against. It also details items to watch for whether creating such drawings in-house or when sub-contracting estimates. Managing the process will also be discussed.
Faculty: Marcus Dreher is the owner of MP Drafting & Design and co-owner of LearnGlazing.com.
Come learn about the new educational offerings available from the Architectural Glass and Metal Technician Certification Program and offerings from Sector, working in conjunction with TGA. Feel free to bring your lunch. Feel free to grab a bite and bring it with you for this informational session.
This insightful session has two parts. Part One will discuss the lessons of companies that have successfully navigated through crisis, what they have learned, and the new programs/procedures they have put in place. Part Two talks about the implications of the crisis for the glass and metal industries in the future—in the supply chain, technology, new products, changes in types of
construction, human resources, and more.
Moderator: Lyle Hill is the president of Glass.com®.
Panelists: Alejandra Carballo is the international sales manager for Millet Glass Industry; David Ferch is the business development manager for Americlad LLC.; and Chris Mammen is co-owner at M3 Glass Technologies.
